He served as a law clerk to the judges of the Third Judicial District of Iowa in 1980-1981. He is admitted to and actively handles lawsuits and trials in federal and state courts in Iowa and Nebraska. He is a member of the Iowa State and Nebraska State Bar Associations and a fellow in the Iowa Academy of Trial Lawyers.
