Jim graduated with high distinction from the Iowa Law School in 1982.  Prior to attending law school Jim had completed his undergraduate degree at the University of South Dakota, served two years in the military including one year of combat experience in Vietnam, completed a masters degree at the University of South Dakota, completed all exams and coursework for a Ph.D., taught at Southern Illinois University, Illinois State University, the University of South Dakota and served as an assistant to South Dakota Governor Richard Kneip.

Jim has been a member of the law firm since 1982 and has a general practice, including but not limited to insurance defense, personal injury, trial law and appellate law.  Jim is the Managing Partner for the Klass Law Firm.

Jim is licensed in Iowa and Nebraska and admitted to all state, administrative and appellate courts in Iowa and Nebraska.  Jim is a member of the American Bar Association, the Iowa State Bar Association, the Nebraska State Bar Association, the Iowa Defense Counsel Association and the Defense Research Institute.  Jim has been active in Bar Association activities and has made numerous presentations to groups of lawyers.

Jim and his wife, Alice, are active in the Sioux City Community.  They find time for gardening, reading, travel and walks with their dog, LizzyB.
